Just to be clear I’ve had days of delights since June 20th. But you fall behind and then the idea of catching up becomes overwhelming. I’m back though! Maybe I’ll go back and post some old delights, who knows…for now onto Cusco.
After a few days of acclimation (we went straight from sea level in Lima to over 11,000 feet!) Nick and I were finally like oh shit, we better do a few hikes to prepare for our 8 day trek. We leave Saturday and 6/8 days on the itinerary are noted as “challenging”, cool. Nick picked a place called “Saqsaywaman” for our hike and I went in knowing nothing.
What an incredible place-a former fortress of the Inca that overlooks the city of Cusco. I’m not a historian and you have Google so if you want the facts go look it up, but see below for some pics. It left me feeling so incredibly excited for our upcoming hike where we will see both Choquequiroa and Machu Picchu!
