Katelin Event time delights
We’re trying to live this summer on event time-minimal scheduling, maximum whimsy. If we come across something on our way somewhere we want to have the freedom to pause and enjoy vs. rushing off to wherever we “need” to be. Barcelona is a city that event time feels particularly relevant for-partly because trying to rush in Spain is truly a bad idea (it won’t work) but mostly because it felt anywhere we went there was something unexpected to pause and enjoy.
After seeing some of the main Gaudi sights of the city, we decided to walk from our hotel to the gothic quarter and then the port for dinner. As we were walking we started to hear some music and saw a large crowd up ahead. We got closer and saw a DJ, a bar set up, and a ton of people chatting and dancing. We looked up the signs on the building- Exhibition Elisava- and found that it was a gradshow showcasing the final projects from students at the Barcelona school of design and engineering.
What a delight to stop, enjoy the music, and be witness to the joy of the students celebrating the results of their work.
